What Is Our Mission?
Our mission is to preserve and revitalize houses and communities,
assuring that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly
and disabled and families with children, live in warmth, safety, and
independence.

Our goal is to make a sustainable impact in
partnership with communities. While some affiliates provide year-round
services, all affiliates plan and prepare for National Rebuilding Day,
typically held on the last Saturday in April.
The national organization is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and
promotes the replication and coordination of affiliates throughout the
United States. Founded in 1988, the national office provides assistance
to affiliates in program development, board and staff development,
marketing, communications, and financial management.
History
Rebuilding Together * Kitsap
is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that builds
partnerships to rehabilitate homes of low-income, elderly and disabled
homeowners, so they may live in warmth, safety and decency. Community
facilities, which serve low-income, elderly or disabled residents, such
as schools, daycare centers, shelters and health clinics, may also
receive assistance. The organization seeks community support to
organize, train, and direct skilled and unskilled volunteers to repair
the homes and community buildings at no cost to the owner. This
neighbor-helping-neighbor effort requires partnership among city
government, private business, skilled trades, community volunteers and
contributors.
We are part of a national organization with 252 affiliates in 49
states serving over 868 cities. Since our first project in 1991, Rebuilding Together * Kitsap
has organized hundreds volunteers who have renovated on average 7 homes
per year, including 3 non-profit facilities. The estimated value of
these renovations is approximately $10,000 per home. The number of
people served each year varies according to the number over eligible
applications received. |
